Don't run Tivo desktop on a web server
Argh. My website has been down recently. I thought it had to do with my recent move, but I think I have tracked it down to the tivo desktop app. I have to run my webserver on an alternate port (my ISP blocks port 80), so I run on 8080. Turns out Tivo desktop also uses that port - sometimes. It uses a whole RANGE of ports. So while I could re-do the port my webserver runs on, and re-do what port my hardware firewall allows through, I chose in the end to uninstall tivo desktop. I was just using it for the photo and music sharing, and that just isn't all that interesting after all.
